Reading Eggs is helping me to read.

"I like Reading Eggs because it helps me do my reading. Sometimes I do it at home, and my Dad helps me. At school, Zurielle, Diya  and Reina help me."

I am learning to make a rhyming string (car, far - fat, cat, sat - word families).

"I look for the rhyming words in my book.  Sometimes it is hard for me.  I know where the full stops are.  Mrs Wyatt helps me with my reading."

I am learning that illustrations can help me read the story.

"I can match the pictures, and I looked at the words on the back. Mrs Wyatt helps me to read, and play the games."

Recognising Sight Words

We are learning to recognise the magenta sight words.

In Reading nga tamariki have been making great progress pointing to each word and using the pictures to help them read a sentence.  Each week we have a new "word of the week" and students do their best to identify that word in their book.

"It is easy to find the word I am looking for", said Monique.

We are learning to point to each word when we read

We are learning to point to each word when we read a story.  This is called one-to-one word matching and it helps us to focus on each word that we read.

"I am reading - look at the flowers."
